For Starters...

I've taken a bit of time to communicate where all this "food stuff" is taking me. The Tale of a Teaspoon; My Journey to a More Sustainable Plate is a summary of the last few years.

My aim has been to fill Food For Fork with amazing food events and experiences, that get us closer to our food, but I also want to share the importance of being mindful of what we eat.

Food production, and food waste play a huge role in climate change.

I believe we can all be doing more towards a sustainable diet but I know first handhow overwhelming it can be. Let's learn from each other in a fun and manageable way. Here is a handy tip...

I'm also very excited when people raise their hand and say they want to come on the journey with me. I met Caroline from Frome With A View a few months back and she's agreed to write for The Tale of a Teaspoon. Read her first post, Sustainable September.

The Main Course...

Sourdough September

If you've read Ultra-Processed People you'll know supermarket bread is really bad for you. The Real Bread Campaign have declared this month "Sourdough September" and what better excuse to have a go at making your own. Here are a few sourdough classes to get your started.

To DIY, check out this guide from The Real Bread Campaign. Decent bakeries like Rye Bakery will happily give you some sourdough starter if you ask nicely.

Frome Cheese Show

I did mention this last month, but as I'm judging I'm especially excited about it!

Nourish Festival

A little further down the South West, Nourish Festival is happening in Devon. From the photos it looks a lot like the Frome Independent market, packed with food stalls, live music and local crafts.

Scotch Egg Masterclass

I bloomin' love a good scotch egg so this workshop from Little Kitchen really caught my eye. They have a bunch of other lovely looking classes, ideal for a date or a bit of you time. They even do cook with kids classes if you need ideas for half term.

The Great Bath Feast

"The gastronomic festival celebrates the best food and drink in the South West, as well as taste-sensations from further afield, appealing to culinary connoisseurs everywhere." Plus there is a fantastic lineup for the Chef’s Theatre.
